CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate

This certification lays the foundation for all other Cisco certifications. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation indicates an apprentice knowledge of networking. The Cisco Certified Network Associate knows how to install, configure, and operate simple (100 nodes or fewer) routed LAN, WAN, and dial access services, as well as switched LANs and ATM LANE networks. They also need to be able to optimize WAN traffic through Internet access solutions that reduce bandwidth and reduce WAN costs using features such as: Filtering with Access Lists, Bandwidth on Demand (BOD), and Dial on demand routing (DDR).

The protocols and concepts included in this understanding are IP, IGRP, IPX, Serial, AppleTalk, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, IPX RIP, Ethernet, and Access Lists. Although there are no prerequisites to test for the CCNA certification, to remain competitive and succeed as you pursue your career, proper training is essential for extending your knowledge and strengthening your professional options.

The Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) designation indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of networks. With a CCNP, a network professional can install, configure, and troubleshoot local- and wide-area networks for enterprise organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes. The content emphasizes topics such as security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), virtual private networks (VPN), and broadband technologies.

This certification represents the second step toward earning the Internetworking Expert certification from Cisco Systems [CCIE]. Besides complex routed LANs and WANs, the Cisco Certified Network Professional also knows how to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot switched LANs and Dial Access Services. Additionally, the Professional needs to be able to install and/or configure a network to increase bandwidth, quicken network response times, and improve reliability. A CCNP should be able to maximize performance through campus LANs and routed WANs, and create a global intranet.

In addition they should be able to provide end-to-end resiliency services, and custom queuing & routed priority services. The protocols and concepts included in this understanding are IP, IGRP, IPX, Async Routing, AppleTalk, Extended Access Lists, IP RIP, Route Redistribution, IPX RIP, Route Summarization, OSPF, VLSM, BGP, Serial, IGRP, Frame Relay, ISDN, ISL, X.25, DDR, PSTN, PPP, VLANs, Ethernet, ATM LAN-Emulation, Access Lists, 802.10, FDDI, and Transparent & Translational Bridging. To remain competitive and succeed as you pursue your career, proper training is essential for extending your knowledge and strengthening your professional options

CCDP - Cisco Certified Design Professional

The CCDP certification indicates advanced or journeyman knowledge of network design. The Cisco Certified Design Professional can design routed and switched networks involving LAN, WAN, and dial access services, applying modular design practices and making sure the whole solution responds optimally to the business and technical needs, and is designed to be highly available. Content and storage application networking, voice/video applications, critical modern infrastructure services such as wireless access, and network services such as security and management, QoS, and multicast are also included. Designing Cisco Network Service Architectures (ARCH), the primary training for the CCDP exam, addresses mainly network services and solutions, building upon Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN), the CCDA course. The case studies shown by the instructor and worked out by the students throughout the courses complemented by OPNET simulation exercises are a very powerful way to reinforce the theory and best practices taught.

CCSP - Cisco Certified Security Professional

The Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) designation indicates advanced knowledge of securing Cisco networks. With a CCSP, a network professional can secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity and reduce costs. The CCSP curriculum emphasizes secure VPN management, Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM), PIX firewall, Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Cisco Security Agent (CSA), and techniques to combine these technologies in a single, integrated network security solution.

Candidates for the CCSP are most likely to be actively involved in developing business solutions and designing and delivering multiple levels of security for underlying network architectures. They may work in IT departments or security departments, or as systems integrators or consultants. Through trained personnel, Cisco security certifications help provide companies with a safety-net for e-commerce infrastructures.

CCIE - Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert

Cisco introduced CCIE in 1993 to help individuals, companies, industries and countries succeed in the networked world by distinguishing the top echelon of internetworking experts. Today the CCIE program sets the standard for internetworking expertise and evolves with the industry. The CCIE program is committed to valid, fair, and high-quality exams. Candidates can select from a variety of tracks on which to certify.

CCIE Tracks

Routing and Switching

CCIE certification in Routing and Switching indicates expert-level knowledge of networking across various LAN and WAN interfaces, and a variety of routers and switches.  Experts in Routing and Switching solve complex connectivity problems and apply technology solutions to increase bandwidth, improve response times, maximize performance, improve security, and support global applications.  Candidates should be able to install, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and dial access services

Security

CCIE certification in Security indicates expert-level knowledge of IP and IP routing as well as specific security protocols and components.

Voice

CCIE certification in Voice indicates expert-level knowledge of VoIP solutions in the enterprise. Candidates should be able to install, configure, and maintain Voice solutions over IP networks. The CCIE Voice track, however, does not certify an understanding of the infrastructure over which VoIP solutions are implemented.
