Ladies and gentlemen, our favorite day of the week has finally arrived. Is it just me or did this week just fly by? While for some this was a great week, and the tech industry was sure abuzz with a number of exciting new developments, all the good news was marred by the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. While the Hurricane has done a historical amount of damage, the State of Texas and the people of the United States have risen to the occasion. This takes us to our first piece of news:

QuickStart and the Tech Industry to Help Out In Hurricane Harvey Relief

VentureBeat did this detailed article on how tech giants are helping in the relief efforts in Texas. A number of organizations like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, AT&T, and Verizon have pledged a substantial amount of money to help rehabilitate the victims. Meet Uber’s New CEO

Dara Khosrowshahi dominated the tech section of the news throughout the week, first as the rumored new CEO of Uber, and then as the official new CEO of the ride-hailing company. The Expedia famed leader has a number of plans for the company, including winning back a chunk of Uber’s marketshare back from Lyft and taking the company public. You can read more about him here.

PayScale’s New Survey Is Out

In a recent survey on cloud computing jobs, PayScale found that Enterprise IT Architects that specialize in Cloud computing are making upwards of $130,000 per year. For beginner level IT professionals, looking into the cloud might not be such a bad idea. You can read more about this news here.

Data Recovery Is All the Rage in The InfoSec Industry

Infosecurity Magazine did this interesting article on data recovery after a data breach. After the recent surge of ransomware attacks all over the world, most infosec professionals are looking into ways to prevent the attacks.
